Art Update PL/ENG

So it was nearly two weeks since last publications, but it's fair to say that I was pretty busy with a lot of creative stuff, so I did not have a lot of time to share any information - that's why you can find them here.

Nie opublikowałem ani słowa od ponad dwóch tygodni, a to dlatego, iż byłem niesłychanie zajęty tworzeniem. Rzadko kiedy miałem więc czas by podnieść telefon, zrobić zdjęcie, podłączyć telefon do komputera, przenieść zdjęcie, wrzucić na fb, opisać. Dlatego też wszystko jest tutaj.

First and foremost - the amateur translation of a Polish book "Bestiarusz Słowiański" which means literally "Slavic Bestiary" - I did this translation (which took some time and 80 pages of the text) as a gift for someone and I must admit - I had a lot of fun and practice. Then I just printed all pages, connected them with leather twine and painted the cover (which is based on one of the old pagan slavic symbols). If you would like to try to read my first translation - just give me the hint.

Najdłużej byłem zajęty tłumaczeniem książki "Bestiariusz Słowiański" na język angielski - zrobiłem to dla przyjaciółki, w ramach prezentu z okazji pierwszej rocznicy ślubu. Robota była ciężka, ale bardzo owocna - potem tylko wszystko wydrukowałem, związałem i namalowałem okładkę karminową farbą akwarelową. Myślę teraz nad tym, czy nie powinienem tego zgłosić twórcom...

The second thing is this painting/poster for the Fiodor Dostoyewski's "Idiot" - I had an idea for a poster/cover since a long time and I wanted to make it real, but I fucked up the color scheme (shouldn't use red) and while I was busy removing it - knife which I was using plunged into the canvas, making whole work worthless, so I need to repaint it on new canvas.

Kolejnym "dziełem" jest plakat/okładka do "Idioty" Dostojewskiego - koncept tego obrazka tłukł mi się po głowie od wielu tygodni i nawet nieźle mi wyszedł jako obraz, ale że chciałem użyć czerwieni, a wyglądało to gorzej niż w szarościach, musiałem czerwień usunąć, nożem. Oczywiście przebiłem płótno i teraz trzeba to przemalować, ciekawe kiedy mi się zachce?

The third artwork is more personal - it's my first okeyish painting of a person. Rather small, with strange color palette and lack of finish touch - but it's here, now hanging over my desk. I may work on it a little bit more, later. Maybe larger size is a good idea.

Pierwszy porządny portret, w kótrym widać podobieństwo. Stworzyłem go będąc w dość szczególnym stanie, ale rezultat mnie zadowala. Wisi teraz nad biurkiem i przypomina, że jednak coś tam potrafię robić z tym pędzlem. Prawdopodobnie jeszcze nad nim popracuję.

Fourth is just a painting sketch - I've chosen very difficult angle with many different tones of shadow so I can't really make it work. but the contrast between orange and blue was always fascinating me. It's a little bit too "noisy", but I will work on it, some day, for sure.

Ten obrazek jest raczej szkicem - chciałem zobaczyć jaka jest relacja między ostrym pomarańczem a błękitem, gdyż zawsze lubiłem to połączenie. Niestety wybrałem strasznie trudny obrazek do skopiowania ( z czego nie zdawałem sobie sprawy) więc wygląda jak wygląda. Wciąż czeka na poprawki.

Fifth was a gift for a friend - it's a painting of Greece in a style of Stephan Norblin. I love his posters and they gave me idea for this small painting.

And the last thing I wanted to share are my newest pick for the art library - "Late works" of Paul Cezanne, catalog of Museum D'orsey and book about oriental carpets which design I was always adoring.All of these are rather helpful.

Zakupiłem też kilka książek do swojej biblioteczki.

That's it for these two weeks - I'm thinking about making a series of painting inspired by The Doors "Morrison Hotel", a little bit in secession style. I did make some sketches, but I don't know if I will ever start it.

I tyle. Całkiem udane dwa tygodnie, odwiedziłem też Brukselę i widziałem sporo interesujących obiektów. Myślę o stworzeniu serii malunków inspirowanych albumem Doorsów "Morrison Hotel", lecz nie wiem, czy kiedykowliek wyjdzie to poza fazę szkiców. Bardzo bym jednak tego chciał.
